Drew Henry salon&gallery presents, Shifting Terrains, June 8, 2013 from 7-11pm. 

Shifting Terrains focuses on the transitory and ephemeral characteristics of natural, constructed, and architectural landscapes. In a constant state of change, each pattern and form become a suspended moment of wonder and evolution. Shifting Terrains excavates new compositions within familiar and unfamiliar terrains by exploring our ever changing perspectives and understanding of realities. 

Artist Bio:
Carlie Trosclair is an installation artist from New Orleans, Louisiana who lives and works in St. Louis, Missouri. Trosclair earned an MFA from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, a BFA from Loyola University New Orleans, and is a Fellow of the Community Arts Training Institute Trosclair has exhibited widely in St. Louis, with solo exhibitions at Craft Alliance Grant Center, St. Louis Artist Guild, group exhibitions at The Luminary Center for the Arts, Meramec Contemporary Art Gallery, Foundry Art Center, the Kemper Art Museum, and in vacant domestic spaces across the city. In addition Trosclair has created temporary public art works for Grand Center’s First Night Event and the Luminary’s Post Performance Event Series. Trosclair is the recipient of the 2012 Riverfront Times MasterMind Award.

Trosclair has completed artist residencies at Vermont Studio Center (VT), Woodside Contemporary Artists Center (NY), and has upcoming solo exhibitions at Antenna Gallery (New Orleans) and Hartnett Gallery (NY). Trosclair will be an artist in residence at chashama (NY) this Fall.

Lana Gloschat debuts in her first solo exhibition, “Barriers” at Drew Henry Gallery and Salon, with a body of unique and alternative portraiture. 

On Saturday March 16th, Drew Henry will be hosting an opening reception for Gloschat’s show, “Barriers,” from 7-9pm. This collection of large portraits explores the idea of psychological, emotional, and mental barriers, and opens a compelling dialogue for the viewers to discuss the idea of barriers on both a personal and global level.

Local, Regional & National Artists

ST. LOUIS (November 2012) – Cherokee Print League (CPL) is excited to announce its Fifth Annual Holiday Sale! The CPL Holiday Sale is one of the largest print sales in the Midwest, showcasing local and regional artists whose work includes printmaking, letterpress, screen printing, and printed fabrics, as well as the ever-evolving creative energy that defines Cherokee Street. The event takes place on Saturday, December 1st, 10:00AM – 6:00PM and provides holiday shoppers with a unique way to complete their shopping lists, supporting both handmade artists and the local economy.

For the first time ever, the CPL Holiday Sale will hold a Preview Party on Friday night, November 30th, 7 – 10pm. The Preview Party will showcase selected works by CPL Holiday Sale vendors, including a mini-retrospective by Firecracker Press. Local Art critic and poet, Jessica Baran will give a “state of the street” address, hitting on the importance of printmaking in the digital age and Cherokee Street as a pillar of the Saint Louis art scene. The Preview Party will be held at 3407 California Ave (just south of Cherokee St), beer provided by Schlafly, music by Ryan Snowden, one of a kind- limited edition buttons provided by Buttonmakers.net & CPL Holiday Sale passports will be available.  All are welcome!

This year’s one-of a-kind, hand-printed passports will provide a map of all venues, information on participating artists and discounts to Cherokee restaurants. The first three people to collect all stamps (stamps provided by all participating artists and venues) will receive prizes from Dick Blick.

Venues include St. Louis Curio Shoppe, Paper Boat Studios, Flowers to the People, Aisle 1 Gallery, STyLehouse, Foam Coffee & Beer, Fort Gondo Compound for the Arts, The Firecracker Press, Apop Records, Drew Henry Salon, Scarlett Garnet, The Community Arts Movement Project (CAMP), High Spektical, [Blank] Space, Loopie’s Market and Tucci Events, Cherokee Street Bikes and MoModerne.  

Come enjoy the music, antiques, books, great food, and a variety of art galleries, print shops, and unique venues that make Cherokee Street one of the most interesting urban corridors in the Midwest.  The perfect place to do your holiday shopping!  The sale takes place along Cherokee Street Saturday, December 1st from 10:00AM – 6:00 PM.
